The ReliaTech Jump Start Program

ReliaTech's Jump Start Program is intended to help low-income entrepreneurs, members of minority groups, and disabled persons obtain and use computers to start and grow small businesses. We work with other nonprofits throughout the Bay Area to provide this program at no cost to their clients.

People living in the San Francisco Bay Area (Contra Costa, Alameda, San Francisco, Marin, and San Mateo counties), who have documented low income and are a member of one or more of the target populations are invited to apply for a Jump Start Grant of computer equipment, support, and training.

What's Included

Each participant in the Jump Start program will participate in a training seminar, at which they will be presented the basic information needed to start using a computer for business. This is an introductory class, intended to help budding entrepreneurs understand how technology can help their businesses. In addition, we provide training on topics such as web-based selling and internet security.

Many participants who successfully complete the training will receive a computer and software, plus one year of technical support.

The computer and software package varies according to the needs of the recipient. The minimum computer setup will be a desktop Pentium 4 PC running Windows 7. This systems will include an anti-virus program, Adobe Acrobat, and Microsoft Office 2007. Each system is ready for high-speed internet access, and includes keyboard, mouse, and monitor. Printers are also available as needed. Other configurations will be available according to need. Computer systems will be provided from ReliaTech’s stock of Gold Star Certified Renewed Computers, and have a value of up to $750.

If you do not need a computer, ReliaTech will work with you to evaluate what other equipment you need, and we will do our best to provide it. Other equipment could include a printer, a scanner, speakers, keyboard and mouse, monitors, network switch, or similar items, up to a value of $750. Participants will also receive one year of telephone support (10 incidents) and up to two on-site service calls during the same 1-year period.
